Why choose Bulgaria?

Small and beautiful, located right next to its more popular southern neighbors Greece and Turkey, Bulgaria is described by many foreigners as unexpectedly pleasant surprise. Encompassing an area of only 111,000 sq. km, the country is home to countless mountains, rivers, lakes and thermal springs, dense forests and lush fields, as well as long beaches with pristine sands along its Black Sea coast. Having been founded in 681 AD, Bulgaria is one of the oldest countries in Europe and has a rich historical and cultural heritage. All these factors combined with the famous hospitality of the Bulgarian people make the country a great place for both spending a wonderful vacation and permanent living.

The country has been a full member of the European Union since January 1, 2007. It is also known for having one of the fastest Internet in world and its many free wi-fi areas.

Bulgaria is located in temperate and subtropical climate zone and has mild winters and very hot summers. This means the country can be visited by tourists throughout the whole year. Summertime in Bulgaria is best enjoyed in the seaside resorts and towns with their numerous water attractions and all sorts of festivals. It is also the best time to visit many of the sights located inland. Cold months are reserved for skiing or simply enjoying a glass of quality Bulgarian wine in front of a warm fire in one of the country's world class winter resorts. Bulgaria also has excellent balneotherapy and mineral spa resorts.

One notable feature in all Bulgarian towns and villages is the dominating greenery. The majority of the streets are usually lined with trees and all towns have at least one public garden or park.

There is a large variaty of properties to choose from in Bulgaria and they fall into several categories:

Seaside and winter resorts mainly offer apartment complexes or aparthotels:
  •     Aparthotels: Usually part of them functions as a hotel, the rest is privately owned apartments. In aparthotels owners can rely on same amenities as the guests of the hotel such as bars, restaurants, shops, swimming pools, service, security, and parking lot. Owners can also let their property and receive income.
  •     Apartment complexes comprise either one or several residential buildings with a common gated area, one or more pools, restaurant, security and parking lot.

Urban properties
include apartments in Soviet-type apartment blocks as well as apartments in modern multi-storey buildings. Many of the old blocks are currently being renovated in accordance with the Energy Renovation of Bulgarian Homes Project which will not only decrease energy expenses but will also contribute to the beautification of the urban areas.

Houses are predominantly found in the older parts and the villa areas of the cities and are the dominant residential type of buildings in the smaller towns.

Rural real estate is almost exclusively houses, usually of two or three storeys and large plots. Most villages have relatively well-developed road infrastructure and at least one regular public transport link to the nearest city or town. Villages situated in close proximity to the big cities are usually more affluent with larger and modern houses, renovated roads and several transport links.

Whether you love the hustle and bustle of the cities and the resorts or you simply long for the peace and quiet of the rural areas, you will find your own piece of paradise in Bulgaria.
