Lozenets

On coast of the Black Sea, in a quiet bay at the foot of Strandzha Mountain, between the towns of Tsarevo and Kiten, lies the picturesque resort of Lozenets.

Winters here are mild and summers are hot as the sea and the mountains always radiate warmth.

According to environmentalists, the sea water in Lozenets is among the cleanest on the coast. Wide beach, unique sand dunes and the beautiful view from Papia Peak (at an altitude of 503 m) are what make this place memorable.

In earlier times this was the site of the old town of Tsarevo, which is now located in the south. Today Lozenets is a developing seaside resort, one of the most famous in Bulgaria, equally attractive to young people and families with children. Lozenets is perfect for yachtsmen as here they can train year-round.

The village, the territory of which is square-shaped, is built-up with two and three-storey houses, plenty of cozy hotels, various shops, bars and restaurants as well as various entertainment venues. With its European-like infrastructure, Lozenets is reminiscent of modern European suburbs.

Just a kilometer north of the village is the camp "Oasis" located on the outskirts of the nature reserve "Blatno kokiche" (Swamp Snowdrop).  One of most beautiful botanical gardens which gives a special color to the local landscape is in three kilometers west of Lozenets.

Lozenets offers everything one might need for recreation and rest as well as for scientific research, due to its exotic vegetation with unique oak and beech forests. Add to that the specific climate, which is influenced by the mountain and the sea, and you will understand why the resort of Lozenets is not only an ideal place for family recreation and tourism, but also an excellent center for important business meetings.

According to local people, Lozenets was founded 80 years ago by villagers from the landlocked Velika. They moved here because of the sea breeze, the gulls and the waves. Originally the village was called Emberli after the name of the grape variety. It was later renamed Lozenets because the many vines that grow here (the word "loza" in Bulgarian means "vine").

The wide beach, the unique sand dunes, the quiet bay, the original architecture and the surfing school of the village attract not only locals but also tourists from around the world.
