Pamporovo
Pamporovo is the most famous and oldest sunny ski resort in Bulgaria, located 260 km from Sofia, 80 km from Plovdiv, in the lands where, according to mythology, the legendary singer Orpheus lived.
Pamporovo is located in the Rhodope Mountains at an altitude of 1650 meters. The most famous peaks are Snezhanka / 1925 m / and Murgavetz / 1858 m /. The presence of numerous underground hot springs is the reason why there are several medical spas centers in Pamporovo.
The resort is located in a pine forest with sunny meadows. The mountain slopes are covered with dense forests and the air is crystal clear. A 93 - meter TV tower had been erected on the Snezhanka Peak offering an unforgettable view to the Aegean Sea.
CLIMATE
The winter is long, soft and serene, with a light breeze from the Aegean Sea and the temperature does not fall below - 7o C. The snowy days per year are about 150-200, and the snow cover - 140-150 cm.
There are about 120 sunny days per year in Pamporovo, and the weather does not change drastically. The ecologically clean climate attracts many families with children. The negative air ionization hepls heal the body and increases the resistance to colds in the winter.
RECREATION
The resort offers a variety of recreational acitvities, cozy restaurants, bars, discos, toboggan near the village Malina, excursions (Sofia - Rila Monastery, Plovdiv - Bachkovsky monastery, Bachkovsky monastery - Asen's Fortress, Smolyan - Shiroka Laka, Chepelare - speleological museum (only one in Bulgaria), Gabrovo - Etara - Veliko Tarnovo, hiking to the Rozhen Peak, the Smolyan Lakes).
At your service are slalom slopes, ski races, ski school, toboggan races and amazing fairytale winter carnivals.
SKIING
Pamporovo offers excellent conditions for skiers of all categories. The small slope of the mountainous terrain makes it particularly suitable for beginners. The duration of the ski season is from mid-December to mid-April. The altitude is 1650m and the highest point of descent - 1926m. Marked pistes have a total length of 17.5 km, the longest run is 3.8 km. The cross country ski track has a length of 25 km. The slopes are oriented north / northwest.
PISTES
Pamporovo offers pistes of all categories of difficulty, located on the northern, eastern part and partially on the western slopes of the Snezhanka Peak, at an altitude of 1926 to 1450 meters. The ski school is conducted in five groups according to the degree of difficulty (A, B, C, D, E), in groups or individually, with different duration of the course. Children 5 to 8 years of age can attend full-time kindergarten at the ski school. There is a ski wardrobe facility, located near the slopes, where you can rent ski equipment or store your own. The Mountain Rescue Service is located at the Studenetz Tourist Base and is opened 24/7. Experienced skiers can test their strength on the steep and difficult piste called the Wall. There are four training sites for beginners located at the foot of the Snezhanka Peak and its western slopes: Snezhanka Peak, Bus Station, Malina and Panorama. The resort has three ski runs, 5 chair lifts and 13 rope tows.
